"If God forbade drinking, would he have made wine so good?"

- Cardinal Richelieu

They invented rosé. They perfected Chardonnay. Their blends are the gold standard for winemaking. There's no place like France for wine.

I started this blog because I kept hearing that my American friends were terrified to drink French wine. "It's so complicated!" they bemoaned, "There's just too much and the French are too different...I'll just stick with Napa." My heart sank. I knew there was a better way to go about this.

I started learning French when I was 11, majored in the language in college, and lived there twice. The first French wine I ever tasted was an '89 Chateau Margaux from Bordeaux that my Parisian host mother insisted I drink to calm my cold. It was the best thing I'd ever had. Thus began my passion for French wine.

So whether you're a newbie or a wine ambassador, I hope you'll find something here for you!
